+ This is what the perfect week looks like
For many, a winter sports holiday is one of the highlights of the year. Winter sports equals lots of exercise, relaxation and enjoyment. While it is not an obvious cheap holiday, it is also sometimes nice to completely immerse yourself in opulent luxury. How nice would it be to choose a winter sports destination where you can shop big, eat out in super luxury and après-ski with cocktails and bubbles? And where you can stay in a hotel right on the slopes? For the ultimate luxury winter sports holiday, head to the Ibiza of the Alps, to Ischgl in the Austrian Tyrol. It costs a bit, but then you most certainly have something. This is what a week of ultimate luxury in Ischgl looks like!
Sleep like a king or queen at the Schlosshotel
If you really want to treat yourself, then opt for an über-luxurious hotel right on the slopes. Like the Schlosshotel in Ischgl, for example, a five-star hotel that sits right in the centre of this bustling winter sports village. This hotel is truly equipped with every convenience. Unfortunately, Austria is not so built on the ski-in, ski-out principle, otherwise this hotel would no doubt have gone out of its way to have that location. Ski-in is there, by the way. From the valley slope, you practically zoof into your hotel room. In the morning, it's just a five-minute walk from the Schlosshotel to the lift. Oh, and don't have your own skis yet? No problem. You will find a ski (rental) shop in the basement of the hotel.
The hotel rooms are stylishly decorated and a welcome note will be waiting for you upon arrival. Feeling hungry from the trip? Then grab a piece of fruit or one of the macarons laid out for you. The beds are so big and soft that it's really only possible to drop into the bed completely. Otherwise, you do yourself a disservice. Every night before bed, your duvet is already unfolded for you and there is a rug for your bare feet next to the bed. True Cinderella scenes. You won't have to get cold feet anyway, because the bathroom has wonderful underfloor heating. Actually, hotel-amenities like the hair- and shower gel, a toothbrush and other handy things are always nice to have. But when they are from BVLGARI, you really want to try them out.
Pure wellness at the spa
Time to put on the slippers (or slippers) and the dressing gown, because the Schlosshotel in Ischgl has its own spa in the building. And what a spa it is! In addition to the infrared chairs, you can go there any time for a Finnish sauna, herbal sauna and aroma steam bath. Start the day (from 08.00) with a dip in the pool. Because of its shape, swimming laps is less practical. Therefore, a trick has been devised. In the pool, the 'river motion' is turned on. Swim against this current and you have already completed the first workout of the day. Prefer to relax after skiing? You can do that too. There are several sun beds (normal and waterbed) where you can read a book or doze off. There is a minibar where you can grab unlimited tea, fresh mint water and nuts. With so much luxury around you, it might still be a challenge to want to hit the slopes again!

Or take a nice sauna as the ultimate end to a ski day in Ischgl Divine food at Stüva - Hotel Yscla
In Ischgl, you have ample choice for a good schnitzel, chips or pizza for dinner. But you can also opt for something completely different. Chef Benjamin Parth's dishes are different. He may be only 31 years old, but he has already won just about every culinary title and award in Austria. Austria does not work with Michelin stars, but with a kind of points system.
Restaurant Stüva, which is part of the Yscla hotel, has no less than 18.5 points, where a maximum of 20 points can be obtained. All dishes are composed with extreme care and are a little taste explosion in your mouth time after time. The idea that eating at a Michelin-starred restaurant won't fill you up is not an issue here, by the way. The dishes are indeed small, but in addition to the three official courses, intermediate dishes such as amuses and an aperitif are also served. The dessert alone here consists of two courses, after which a round of scrumptious chocolate is also served. Divine is the best description of an evening dining in luxury at Stüva restaurant
A divine dinner at restaurant Stüva The Ibiza of the Alps
Ischgl is thus also known as the Ibiza of the Alps. Partly because drinking champagne is the most normal thing in the world here. It actually starts on the slopes. At the Mountain VIP club, the first bottles already open around noon. As the afternoon progresses, the more people walk around with a bottle of champagne. Which, of course, has to be shared with the rest of the world.
Once everyone, with the necessary alcohol in their bodies, has arrived back down in one piece, it is time for the après-ski. You can choose to do that part a bit more on stand-up too. More than in any other ski resort, wine bars can be found in Ischgl where bubbly is enjoyed. And we're not talking about small glasses of bubbles, but big magnum bottles go over the bar with ease. Good example of this is the Champagne Hütte (again from the Schlosshotel). Anyone who orders a magnum bottle there may have that bottle, as a kind of trophy, hung up or put down as a décor piece. This includes the names of the buyers, which surprisingly often seem to have Dutch origins. Not a cheap hobby, as just a glass of bubbly is easily around 22 euros.
Had enough of champagne and want something different? Then go for a super exclusive cocktail with 'wow effect' at Bar 67 (at Hotel Post Ischgl). This award-winning bar offers cocktails with special raw materials and ingredients. But not only the contents of the cocktails will make your mouth drop open, the presentation is also on spot. For example, the 'Smokey Glamour' is finished with an exciting, mysterious smoke effect.
Optimal enjoyment
That you can enjoy yourself to the max in Ischgl is clear, that you have to bring a big wallet to do so as well. But the fine hotel, the extensive spa, the spectacular food and the special cocktails will make sure that you can get the most out of your winter sports the day after. And that is also worth a lot, because there are a lot of runs you want to have done in Ischgl!
The Smokey Glamour at Bar 67 lives up to its name.... That you can fully enjoy all kinds of luxuries in Ischgl is obvious!
